Providing Educational Visits And Displays Of Owls And Birds Of Prey

British Barn Owl (Tyto Alba)
We have successfully bred many of these birds which are in serious decline in the wild. A nocturnal, their favourite food is the short tailed vole which is found in the long grass of the old hay meadows. Regretably many of our old barns have been converted to houses so many of these birds have been made "homeless", hence the reason for their decline!
Bengal Eagle Owl. (Bubo Bengalensis)
A sub-species of the European Eagle Owl, originally from Bengal, India and Pakistan. These birds take rabbits and small prey.
An ideal bird for a beginner.
Common Buzzard.
The Common Buzzard breeds in woodland, usually on the fringes, but favours hunting over open land. It eats mainly small mammals, and will come to carrion. A great opportunist, it adapts well to a varied diet of pheasant, rabbit, other small mammals, snakes and lizards and can often be seen walking over recently ploughed fields looking for worms & insects.
Harris Hawk.
Originally from South America and Mexico, noted for its brains and ability. Harris Hawks often hunt in pairs with one bird moving the prey around to enable the other to take out the prey.
Hunts rabbits, pigeons and game birds and often used commercially for clearing sites of nuicance birds.
Steppe Eagle. (Aquila Nipalensis)
Almost as large as a Golden Eagle (Steppe Eagles fly at about half a pound less). Our Steppe Eagle "Storm" prefers to walk rather than fly.
Originally in Russia these birds flock to migrate to Africa and can be seen in large flocks during the Summer Time in Africa.

European Eagle Owl. (Bubo Bubo)
The largest of oll the owls they are capable of holding a large hare and are capable of killing anything up to a small deer. Their large feet are capable of giving a ton and a half per square inch of pressure.
Red Tailed Buzzard.
A native of Canada and North America these birds are quite bright birds spotting their prey as an oportunist rather than actual hunting. Larger that the Common Buzzard, in general they have a very good temprament. Capable of taking rabbits, pheasant, moorhens, coots and squirrels. Being somewhat larger than the males the females are capable of taking Hares. Due to the larger feet they are more successful hunters.
Tawny Owl.
Native to Britain this smaller owl can often be heard calling at night. A nocturnal bird feeding on smaller birds, mice slugs and worms often finding their food amongst the undergrowth at the base of trees. Although often heard it is rarely seen due to its dark colouring. Although only quite small it can carry prey much heavier than itself.
